THE RIVER IS A PLACE...
THE RIVER is a place where the uncompromised Word of God is preached, so that every man and woman may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
This is a place where people enter into the presence of God through anointed praise and worship. They have their needs met as they enter the Throne Room of their Saviour. In return they receive all the strength, joy and peace that He has for them.
Here is no tradition, religion or pretences. We meet with God, feel His touch and allow him free rein. His will is permitted and honoured in our lives. We gather without fear or intimidation. We yield to the Spirit of God, we are set free and we are made whole!

SERVICES
Services are each Sunday morning at 09:00, River Park Building. Children and Babies facilities are available.
Pastor Ronald & Natasha Videler are the shepherding pastors for THE RIVER in East London. They met each other while attending a part-time Bible School at Stellenbosch, Cape Province. Ron qualified in engineering and Natasha in commerce. Only after five years of friendship did they realise that it was 'not good for man to be alone' and they got married during 1998. The joy and strong foundation of a Godly marriage has been a great blessing ever since!
They had the privilege to sit under the anointed ministry of of the leadership of His People and received special mentoring under pastors Mike and Karen Cerff.
After being actively involved in ministry for several years, they accepted the full time call and submitted to God's leading all the way to East London. They joined visionary pastors Andre and Jenny Roebert and The River team in 2001. An added generational blessing was to link up with Ron's parents who are also assistant pastors at The River. God gave Ron and Natasha three sons - Reuel, Ronan & Raphael.
Ron and Natasha's prime vision is to see the Body of Christ equipped to do the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11) and influence the world around them. They believe God has planted the seed of leadership in each one of us so that we can make disciples and live fulfilling lives. They furthermore desire to see the standard of excellence and motivation raised in their city, thus eventually influencing the nation of South Africa.

DISCIPLESHIP
Growth in a church needs more than strategy and therefore we have a fully developed vision for discipleship, nurturing and missions. The key to the success of this is not just the strategy of our cell vision but the values that uphold it.
By the leading of the Holy Spirit we rise to the challenge of nurturing one another, based on the foundations of truth found in the Word of God. In this way we are all built up and developed into the full p[otential of Christ in our lives.
Jesus said: "Make disciples..." (Matt 28:19-20). He did not just tell us to evangelise or to simply get decisions from people. We all need to be taught, shaped and formed into the image of Christ. Often people who make decisions to become Christians through evangelism are never truly discipled according to the example of Christ. We have to obey the commands of Jesus by lovingly placing our priorities on discipling His Bride!

CELL GROUPS
Cells are small groups of people who meet on a weekly basis in order to disciple one another and reach out to those who don't know Christ. Cells are where growth takes place and are a highly effective way of fulfilling the New Testament mandate we have as believers, to be disciples and to disciple others.
The cells are where our partners receive personal ministry and where they find and fulfil their individual ministry in the Body of christ. Every Christian has the potential to lead, as we are called to serve Jesus and to lead others to a knowledge of Him.
The purpose of Jesus for you is fruitfulness and He wants you to be successful in your life. Growth comes through cells as the partners reach out to their family, neighbours and friends. We are constantly developing a passion for the lost to reach them uncompromisingly for Christ.
Something wonderful happens when God's people are mobilised. The superstar-syndrome disappears and the work is done by all. The real heroes in our vision are the partners of the church and not only a handful of its leaders. This way God really gets all of the glory.

We strive for every leader to have their own youth cell
We celebrate on Friday and some Saturday evenings, often hosting well known artists and speakers to inspire all
Establishing a Youth Band and working towards the recording of albums
Getting actively involved in community projects
Seeing the whole youth involved with aspects of the ministry
